April Newsletter

Dear Friends Pursing Christ,

HumbleHere is a true confession from your pastor. I am feeling overwhelmed. I am sure you know the feeling. Life seems to have me by the tail and whirling me around. What must I do to stop my heart from palpitating and my mind from racing? My response is to go to God’s Word.  FPC’s daily Bible reading for today (Friday) is 1 Peter 5.  Ah what a nugget of truth that I can cling to these days. Let me share it with you: “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (6-9).

Thank you Jesus! I pause and I pray. I personalize this text and pray God’s Word back to Him. I pray it not once, twice, but three times. I believe I will reflect on it a lot today. God’s remedy for me always can be found in Scripture. God’s Word is good and trustworthy. Isn’t that what the disciples learned. Jesus

shared with them what was going to happen to Him in His last days on earth. It was filed away in their minds. The angel at the tomb reminded the women that First Day of Resurrection: “Remember how He spoke to you while in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful man and be crucified. And the third day rise again.” (Matt. 24:6-7). God keeps His Word.

As we travel through Holy Week, April 14-21, we will be reminded over and over again Easterthat God’s Word is trustworthy and reliable. God’s Word is Life. God means what He says. Pay attention and heed His Word. The schedule for Holy Week is as follows:

Love in Christ,

Ilona
